Manager Quality - Asia

Reports to: Global Quality Director

Location: Hong Kong           

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The role of the Manager Quality - Asia, is to partner with suppliers to leverage proven methods and standards used by New Era as well as industry best practices and incorporate those improvements at the operation level. The Manager Quality - Asia reports to the Global Quality Director (located in Hong Kong).

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with NEC headwear, apparel, and accessory suppliers and to ensure that factory quality systems are effective and quality resources trained to support the quality control initiatives of the brand.
  • Work with targeted NEC suppliers and the quality assurance team to develop action plans that address the causes of the identified inefficiencies.
  • Lead targeted NEC supplier’s teams in execution of the developed plan and measure improvement to drive return on the investment.
  • Partner with our designated raw material suppliers to ensure their products are meeting acceptable quality standards and support NEC brand business needs.
  • Work with targeted NEC suppliers and the Quality Assurance team to develop action plans that address the causes of the identified inefficiencies.
  • Manage Brand Standard Training to suppliers as needed.
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends, root causes and opportunities for improvement. Use the information to develop action plans and drive preventive actions with vendors.
  • Collaborate with NEC cross -functional teams including Sourcing, Production, and Marketing to address quality-related issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of quality control process and make recommendations for enhancements or modifications as needed.
  • Researching ways to improve the quality in production line and tracking/evaluate on defective parts impact.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and reduce defects and claim rate.
  • Manage vendor’s quality compliance systems, quality systems as needed.
  • Manage 3rd Party Quality Service Providers (QSP) inspection services and lab test teams. Ensure they are providing accurate and unbiased inspections and quickly address any deficiencies found. Initiating Shadow Audits if needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • A communication style that is comfortable communicating at all levels.
  • Demonstrates the ability to multi task and deal with stress in an effective way.
  • A strong work ethic with a lead by example approach.
  • Fluent Mandarin and English is a must.
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other necessary software

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or above is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience apparel / headwear in manufacturing environment with focus on process improvement.

 TRAVEL

  • Up to 30% travel in region internationally
